The main message that Bell wants to convey to the reader is that running away is not the best option when solving problems. Overall, this book was truly remarkable. It includes all the symbols and motifs to help engage the reader more into the book. During an emotional confrontation, he admits that all he wanted was control of his life, which they grudgingly accept. The novel ends with a recovered Crabbe taking a job at a wilderness camp for troubled youth.
